Why blog 2.0?
It's been a while since I've last written a blog post, and honestly, the motivation just hasn't been there. Recently, I've been trying to be more intentional with my time and energy, focusing on a select few areas rather than swapping between every new and exciting thing that comes along. For years, I felt like I was playing the role of a "jack of all trades, master of none," dipping my toes into a variety of career paths, exercise routines, hobbies, and passions. But now I have come to my late 20’s, and I've come to realise the value of focusing my efforts.
This shift in focus is less about cutting things out and more about prioritising what I am truly passionate about. I'm not abandoning all of the areas I've previously explored, but I'm choosing to dedicate more time and energy to those that align with my overall goals. By streamlining my focus, I believe I can achieve a greater depth and mastery in the areas.
What is the new blog structure?
Moving forward, my blog will have a slightly different structure. Here's what you can expect:
David+: Occasionally, I'll still post content like this one, or other general topics that don't fall neatly into the categories below. This allows me to share thoughts and ideas that don't necessarily fit a specific theme, and it keeps things interesting.
Product Management: As my current profession, product management is an area where I believe continuous learning is crucial. You can expect to see posts about the tools and skills I learn along the way.
Cooking: I'm passionate about cooking and enjoy doing it every single day. I typically cook for myself and/or my partner, but also like the challenge of cooking for friends and family. Expect to learn how I try to balance cooking new and exciting meals every night and also what I learn when I delve deep into a specific dish.
Longevity: Inspired by Peter Attia's book “Outlive" I'm focusing on incorporating small changes into my daily routine to improve my overall health and well-being. Expect to see posts about these changes and the metrics I track along the way.
Cycling: Cycling has become my primary form of exercise, and I'm excited to share my passion for this sport with you. Here, you'll find how I use my other dedicated exercise to improve on the bike.
By focusing on these four key areas, I aim to create a more focused and impactful blog experience for you, my readers. I believe this structure will allow me to delve deeper into topics I'm passionate about, share valuable information, and connect with you on a more meaningful level.
Whats happening to the old posts?
Don't worry, all my old posts will still be available on my site! They will be housed under a dedicated "Archive" tag, making them easy to find for those who want to revisit them or explore my past writing.
I believe it's important to acknowledge the journey and learnings from the past, even as I move forward with this new direction. So, while the focus will be on the four new categories, the old posts remain accessible for anyone who wants to delve into them.
What to expect?
The structure and the style of the individual blog post will remain the same, however, the topics will change. Some blog posts to expect in the future are:
- My journey into product management.
- Cooking for a picky eater.
- How to fit more protein into your diet.
- How I use obsidian to collate my ideas.
As these areas are now generally my focus, I am spending a lot more of my free time learning about them allowing me to build out a better backlog of ideas and get excited about writing again.
